Solo Vision

I am Joe Robinson, a solo developer, artist, and voice actor based in West Yorkshire, England. My development journey began in GameMaker, but I have since transitioned to Godot 4.1. At 46 years old, I bring a veteran's discipline to the craft; being a solo developer means 100% independent execution. Every pixel, line of GDScript, environmental contrast, and voice-over is handled entirely by me on a high-performance studio rig (i7-13700F / RTX 4060 Ti).

Philosophy

I specialize in 2D sprite art, animation, and world-building, with combat mechanics inspired by the technical precision of fighting games like Street Fighter. My projects are built on a "solve-and-survive" core—blending the high-speed tension of classic action titles like Ninja Gaiden with modern engineering. Whether hand-crafting assets in Clip Studio Paint or scripting complex movement logic, the goal is a premium, stylish experience.

Currently in Development

I am currently deep in the engine of Hatman. From architecting the four distinct Hubs to voicing the predatory antagonists, I am focused on delivering a polished challenge that respects the player’s skill and time.

Project: Hatman

The Concept
Hatman is a stylish 2D action-adventure where whimsy masks a melancholic narrative and the persistent dread of a stalker. The experience is built on a "solve-and-survive" core, focusing on a sad, unfolding mystery rather than traditional horror tropes. Players navigate a journey to retrieve stolen enchanted hats, exploring a world defined by its heavy atmosphere and the constant, unsettling presence of a predatory antagonist.
The Execution
The world is architected around four hand-crafted Hubs utilizing Metroidvania-style logic to reward progression and interconnected discovery. Combat and movement are engineered for high-speed technical precision, requiring sharp reflexes to survive the game's high-tension encounters. The sense of dread is reinforced through the primary stalker bunny, whose pursuit is woven into the game's mechanical and narrative fabric. Every recovered hat piece serves as both a tool for progression and a window into the world’s grim reality, delivering a premium, atmospheric challenge.
